The movie is simply awesome, the visuals are amazing, the scenes are very realistic
Nobody can rate this movie …James is a genius .Period
I like it
The sequel to James Cameron’s one of a kind 2009 production is nothing more than just that, making it two of a kind. While the theme focuses on another element of nature and brings it to life in an incredibly stellar manner, the main storyline seems rather timid and repetitive. There’s parts of magical brilliance and stunning visuals. But there’s also prolonged scenes where it just drops and loses its touch.
Rushed scenes in the beginning of the movie fail to establish a steady equanimous pace at the start. That’s just the beginning of the downfall. The plot is weak with many lacklustre threads to ignore. One that particularly struck me as gnawing, though it’s nothing that would cause you to pull your hair, was the american manner of speaking of the children. It just added to the destruction of the illusion of ‘another world’. Even the new characters added seem to lack clear persona and none really manage to push the movie to a crescendo by leveraging the theme. But with that being said, traces of the hand of a master craftsmen can be clearly seen in certain parts of the movie. Especially in the theme, spirituality and life of the people. The natural beauty in the design of the water clan, it’s connect with the sea and creatures thereof really gives one a high for those few minutes it’s on the screen. But thats basically where the magic ends.
The main issue seems to be one of plot. It lacks clarity, stability and direction. The journey is riddled with one too many subplots, the sheer number of which just weakens their collective appeal and dilutes the story. The main plot in no way moves forward. Akin to a sports tournament in which no team eventually wins perhaps. Towards the end, nothing is really cemented and it seems like the the sequel is rather a small crumb in the trail that is Avatar. A pointless qualifying round to an already decided finale? Not much is accomplished and a repetition of scenes from the first part becomes the last drop of water in this sea of dissatisfaction.
The grand appeal I would say is of the big screen graphics and rhythmic beauty. If this suffices, it is definitely worth a watch for that cinematic experience. But if you are looking for a carefully crafted piece with a crackling fresh plot, you may find yourself wondering at the end if you indeed walked into the right screening.
