The comic book movie genre has been dominating Hollywood for years now, including, but not limited to, the Marvel movies and the DC movies that exist in their own respective shared universes – or, perhaps, we should say “multiverses.” However, the phenomenon only seems to get bigger – and, in some cases, even better – each year and it looks like 2023 will be no exception.
If you found yourself wowed by the movies from 2022 that feature some of the most popular superheroes – and supervillains – of all time, just wait until you see what is coming next to AMC Theatres around the world. The following is a full breakdown of what to expect and when with regards to upcoming comic book movies in 2023.

SHAZAM! was one of the biggest surprises of 2019, as it was both a major change of pace for LIGHTS OUT director David F. Sandberg and for DC movies with its more lighthearted tone. However, based on a title like SHAZAM! When the third feature-length installment of writer and director James Gunn’s cosmic – and comedic – franchise comes out on Friday, May 5, 2023, it will be a bittersweet moment for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
